Instinctive Neighbourhood – 27/06/2021 at Theater de Vaillant in Den Haag
NDT werkt mee aan project Instinctive Neighbourhood (artikel uit Nederlands Dans Theater website)
Twee dansers van NDT 1, Madoka Kariya en Paxton Ricketts, waren onderdeel van het project Instinctive Neighborhood compact, een bijzonder samenwerkingsproject met Laaktheater en Corpo Máquina onder leiding van choreograaf Guilherme Miotto.
De groep bestond naast Madoka en Paxton uit niet-dansers, medewerkers van Laaktheater en bewoners uit de wijk Laakkwartier. Samen hebben zij een sociaal en creatief dansonderzoek gedaan, waarin diepe verbinding door fysieke zeggingskracht ontstond tussen de deelnemers. Als afsluiting van het project hebben zij in intieme setting het resultaat van hun gezamenlijke zoektocht en sociaal-fysieke connectie gepresenteerd voor eigen publiek.
Sociaal artistiek dansproject
In het project maakt choreograaf Guilherme Miotto een voorstelling waarin de persoonlijke kenmerken en impulsen van de performers centraal staan. Met de overtuiging dat iedereen een even persoonlijk en egoloos verhaal te vertellen heeft, maakt hij samen met de buurtbewoners een verrassend en controversieel stuk.
In de buurt
Instinctive Neighborhood is een project dat in elke buurt in elke stad of in elk dorp ter wereld kan plaatsvinden. Uit de buurt wordt een diverse groep mensen van verschillende leeftijden samengebracht, met een minimum leeftijd van 18 jaar.
Samen met choreograaf Guilherme Miotto is deze groep uit het Laakkwartier gaan bewegen en is iedereen uitgenodigd om zo dicht mogelijk bij zijn of haar eigen innerlijk te komen. Op deze manier de krijgen deelnemers niet alleen een beter beeld van zichzelf, maar ook van elkaar, en over wat het betekent om vandaag samen mens te zijn.

Two dancers from NDT 1, Madoka Kariya and Paxton Ricketts, were part of the Instinctive Neighborhood compact project, a special collaboration with Laaktheater and Corpo Máquina, led by choreographer Guilherme Miotto.
Besides Madoka and Paxton, the group consisted of non-dancers, Laaktheater staff, and residents of the Laakkwartier neighborhood. Together, they conducted a social and creative dance exploration, in which a deep connection developed between the participants through physical expressiveness. To conclude the project, they presented the results of their shared exploration and social-physical connection to their own audience in an intimate setting.
Social artistic dance project
In this project, choreographer Guilherme Miotto creates a performance that centers on the personal characteristics and impulses of the performers. Convinced that everyone has an equally personal and egoless story to tell, he collaborates with local residents to create a surprising and controversial piece.
In the neighborhood
Instinctive Neighborhood is a project that can take place in any neighborhood, city, or village worldwide. It brings together a diverse group of people of different ages from the neighborhood, with a minimum age of 18.
Together with choreographer Guilherme Miotto, this group from the Laakkwartier district has begun to move, inviting everyone to connect with their inner selves. In this way, participants gain a better understanding not only of themselves, but also of each other, and of what it means to be human together today.
