Mondo Perfetto (premiere 6/08/2024 at Festival Boulevard in Den Bosch)

Cellosuite nr. 1 in G groot, BWV 1007
Cellosuite nr. 5 in C klein, BWV 1011

Mondo Perfetto (premiere 6/08/2024 at Festival Boulevard in Den Bosch)

Corpo Máquina’s artistic director Guilherme Miotto presents a mixture of waves and impulses with the concert-performance Mondo Perfetto. Through the simplicity of movement, he attempts to find a way to share the layered reality, within which the performers are situated, with the audience. Monumental gestures and sounds dismantled in steps and rhythms. A church-like theater, a place of rituals. Where we get together to overthink, looking for a path.

Guilherme himself performs as dancer, with fellow dancer Julia Nielsen. Percussionist Pedro Paixao plays Bach live on the marimba. Mondo Perfetto unravels deep within the body’s hidden intentions, in an open and shared space. The strategy here is to treat all elements within the performance – presence, thoughts, imagination. Dance, music – as vibrations. Vibrations that are used to question the boundaries performers use to separate themselves from each other and their environment. This creates a longing for unity within a reality which we experience as vague and disordered on a day-to-day basis.

Concert-performance Mondo Perfetto creates a space in which the audience feels invited to live in the here and now, let go of references and allows for the imagination to speak for itself.

Music: Bach performed on the marimba

Pedro Paixao is the musician in Mondo Perfetto. He live-performs the following compositions during each performance:

Cellosuite no. 1 in G major, BWV 1007
Cellosuite no. 5 in C minor, BWV 1011
Chaconne from violinpartita no. 2 in D minor, BWV 1004

The marimba pushes the hidden vibrations beneath legendary compositions to the surface. The suites explore low registers and are used as a driving force to explore a variety of vibrations within the body. The sound that vibrates within the space, the bodies of the performers and the audience, is a communal basis through which experiencing surpasses understanding.

The music functions as a voice, a structure. A dialogue is held with said structure, comparable to the dialogue with the space.
