It takes a Child to raise a Village/ FREE – 8 t/m 12 Augusts 2023 at Festival Boulevard in Den Bosch
In It takes a Child to raise a Village / FREE komen freerunning en theater samen in een interactieve ontmoeting met kinderen uit Den Bosch West. Vorig jaar nodigde het gezelschap Corpo Máquina Society van choreograaf Guilherme Miotto kinderen uit met freestyle voetballers en dansers op ontdekkingstocht te gaan in de gymzaal van BBS de Kruiskamp. Met It takes a Child to raise a Village / FREE keert het gezelschap terug naar deze locatie.
Komend festival gaan acteurs, muzikanten en freerunners met kinderen uit ‘s-Hertogenbosch West aan de slag. Freerunning is een mix van acrobatiek en sport op/onder/over/langs muren, bankjes, fietsenrekken etc. Stedelijk, stylish en stoer.
Met It takes a Child to raise a Village is Corpo Máquina Society een meerjarig traject gestart met projecten waarin volwassen performers de opdracht krijgen om de kinderen in het middelpunt te plaatsen en dienstbaar te zijn aan hun voorstellen en nieuwsgierigheid. De overtuiging van Corpo Máquina: jongeren kunnen de samenleving veranderen. Extra magie van dit project: kinderen komen uit de verf, wat ook de dagelijkse presentaties bewijzen. Zo kon een deelnemend meisje uit de buurt vorig jaar smoorverliefd op een viool worden en werden de bezoekers dat op hún beurt – op haar.
Om 15:00 uur gaan de deuren van de gymzaal open en zijn de kinderen welkom om samen met de performers aan de slag te gaan. Vanaf 16:30 uur is het publiek welkom om te kijken en mogen meegebrachte kinderen vanaf 8 jaar meedoen als ze willen.

In It takes a Child to raise a Village / FREE, freerunning and theatre come together in an interactive encounter with children from Den Bosch West. Last year, choreographer Guilherme Miotto’s company Corpo Máquina Society invited children to go on a journey of discovery with freestyle footballers and dancers in the gym of BBS de Kruiskamp. With It takes a Child to raise a Village / FREE, the company returns to this location.
During the upcoming festival, actors, musicians and freerunners will work with children from ‘s-Hertogenbosch West. Freerunning is a mix of acrobatics and sport on/under/over/along walls, benches, bicycle racks, etc. Urban, stylish and cool.
With It takes a Child to raise a Village, Corpo Máquina Society has started a multi-year programme with projects in which adult performers are tasked with putting children at the centre and serving their ideas and curiosity. Corpo Máquina’s conviction: young people can change society. The extra magic of this project: children come into their own, as the daily presentations prove. Last year, for example, a participating girl from the neighbourhood fell head over heels in love with a violin, and the visitors in turn fell in love with her.
At 3 p.m., the doors of the gym will open and children are welcome to join the performers. From 4.30 p.m., the public is welcome to watch and children aged 8 and above who have been brought along are welcome to join in if they wish.
