It takes a Child to raise a Village / FREE – Zimihc en Tweetakt – 15 & 16 juni 2024
Een dynamische, levendige voorstelling voor jong en oud.
Twee bolvormige klimrekken, een groot zwart doek, 4 rode doeken en 8 groene touwen vormen het speelveld van It takes a Child to raise a Village / FREE. Een hartverwarmend project met professionele acteurs, freerunners, muzikanten en jongeren uit onze stad. Elk werk van choreograaf Guilherme Miotto is een ontmoeting. In deze voorstelling overbrugt hij niet alleen de kloof tussen volwassenen en kinderen, maar ook tussen freerunning, theater, straatkunst en kunst, tussen het stadscentrum en de wijk.

Voordat Guilherme Miotto eind 2017 besloot om zijn werk te produceren vanuit zijn eigen gezelschap Corpo Máquina Society, danste hij onder andere met Bruno Listopad, Krisztina de Châtel, Emio Greco en T.r.a.s.h. en creëerde hij verschillende werken in samenwerking met onder andere Korzo (Rise Up – 2015) en DansBrabant (Even Worse – 2017 en Ball – 2018). Instinctive Performance, de benadering die Miotto in de loop der jaren heeft ontwikkeld, geeft hij onder andere les aan de Toneelacademie Maastricht, waar hij ook als mentor werkt en deel uitmaakt van het kernteam. Miotto’s roeping is om kunst terug te geven aan de samenleving, aan de mensen, en om het van iedereen te maken. Daarom deelt hij werk in verschillende vormen en op verschillende locaties met het publiek.
“Wat hier gebeurde was magisch”, schreef journalist Wijbrand Schaap. “De concentratie, de toewijding, de zorgzaamheid waren betoverend mooi… Hier leren kinderen dat grenzen kunnen worden verlegd en dat veiligheid iets is waar je samen voor zorgt.”

A dynamic, lively performance for young and old.
Two spherical climbing frames, a large black cloth, 4 red cloths, and 8 green ropes form the playing field of It takes a Child to raise a Village / FREE. A heartwarming project with professional actors, freerunners, musicians, and youth from our city. Each work by choreographer Guilherme Miotto is a meeting. In this performance, he not only bridges the gap between adults and children but also between freerunning, theater, street art, and art, between the city center and the neighborhood.

Before Guilherme Miotto decided to produce his work from his own company Corpo Máquina Society at the end of 2017, he danced with, among others, Bruno Listopad, Krisztina de Châtel, Emio Greco, and T.r.a.s.h. and created several works in collaboration with, among others, Korzo (Rise Up – 2015) and DansBrabant (Even Worse – 2017 and Ball – 2018). Instinctive Performance, the approach that Miotto developed over the years, he teaches, among others, at Toneelacademie Maastricht where he also works as a mentor and is part of the core team. Miotto’s calling is to give art back to society, to the people, and to make it everyone’s. That is why he shares work in different forms and at different locations with the public.
