Unpunished Youth is ontstaan vanuit en filosofie waarin jongeren in contact komen met een genre overschrijdend, interdisciplinair dansproject. Jongeren laten ervaren wat het is om grenzen te verleggen, los laten van gewoontes en concepten en theatrale elementen fuseren in een dansvoorstelling.
Unpunished Youth is een samenwerking met Bodies Anonymous en R-Newt – in het kader van talentontwikkeling – waarbij drie professionals, Guilherme Miotto (BR): modern/fysiek theater, Johnny Loyd (USA): hiphop fusion en Akwasi O. Ansah (NL): rapper (Zwart Licht), samen met jongeren een dansstuk creëren, met als uitgangspunt het talent van de jongere, waar dans, theater, rap, spoken word en zang in verweven wordt.
Unpunished Youth is in februari 2013 van start gegaan met 17 gemotiveerde jonge Tilburgse talenten met een diverse leeftijd, afkomst en achtergrond. Zij hebben deelgenomen aan een intensief traject van repetities, workshops en uitdagingen. De repetities hebben plaats gevonden in het jongerenpand V39 van R-Newt, Theater de Nieuwe Vorst en Like Minds in Amsterdam. Gedurende het traject is er gewerkt aan diverse danstechnieken (Popping, Krump, Modern, Stepping o.a.), fysiek theater en rap, zang en spoken word. Ook is er gewerkt aan de performance en verschillende manieren van creatie en co-creatie. Alle jongeren hebben zich volledig ingezet binnen dit traject met hun eigen doelen, motivatie en talenten!

Unpunished Youth originated from a philosophy in which young people come into contact with a genre-transcending, interdisciplinary dance project. Young people experience what it is like to push boundaries, let go of habits and concepts, and fuse theatrical elements into a dance performance.
Unpunished Youth is a collaboration with Bodies Anonymous and R-Newt – in the context of talent development – in which three professionals, Guilherme Miotto (BR): modern/physical theatre, Johnny Loyd (USA): hip hop fusion and Akwasi O. Ansah (NL): rapper (Zwart Licht), create a dance piece together with young people, based on the talent of the young people, in which dance, theatre, rap, spoken word and singing are interwoven.
Unpunished Youth started in February 2013 with 17 motivated young talents from Tilburg of diverse ages, origins and backgrounds. They participated in an intensive programme of rehearsals, workshops and challenges. The rehearsals took place in R-Newt’s youth centre V39, Theater de Nieuwe Vorst and Like Minds in Amsterdam. During the programme, participants worked on various dance techniques (including popping, krump, modern, and stepping), physical theatre, rap, singing, and spoken word. They also worked on performance and different methods of creation and co-creation. All of the young people gave their all to this programme, bringing their own goals, motivation, and talents to the table!
