It takes a Child to raise a Village / FREE – Buurt naar het museum, Design Museum Den Bosch, Het Noordbrabants Museum – 24 mei 2025
Als onderdeel van het programma ‘Buurt naar het museum’ kwamen kinderen uit de wijken de Gestelse Buurt, De Hambaken, De Kruiskamp en Boschveld naar Design Museum Den Bosch voor een feestelijke middag. In samenwerking met Design Museum Den Bosch en Het Noordbrabants Museum speelden we samen met de kinderen It takes a Child to raise a Village / FREE. Met de kenmerkende bolvormige klimrekken, het grote zwarte doek, 4 rode lappen en 8 groene touwen vormden we het speelveld van It takes a Child to raise a Village / FREE. De magie van de speeltuin haalden we naar binnen en ontstonden er hartverwarmende ontmoetingen tussen kinderen en professionele acteurs, freerunners en muzikanten.
Essentieel voor ‘Buurt naar het museum’ is de vraag: hoe kan het museum direct omwonenden en stadgenoten blijvend betrekken? Een missie die de essentie van de participatieprojecten van Corpo Máquina Society raakt. Het verbinden van wijk en centrum. We willen het antwoord zijn op de vragen, wat is er nodig om kinderen (en jongeren en volwassen), die een afstand hebben tot kunst en cultuur, op een positieve en stimulerende manier kunst en zelfexpressie te laten ontdekken? Hoe geven we de ruimte aan die zelfexpressie in het hart van onze cultuursector? It takes a Child to raise a Village (/FREE) is daarin één van onze antwoorden.

It takes a Child to raise a Village / FREE – Neighbourhood to the museum, Design Museum Den Bosch, Het Noordbrabants Museum – 24 May 2025
As part of the “Neighbourhood to the Museum” programme, children from the Gestelse Buurt, De Hambaken, De Kruiskamp and Boschveld neighbourhoods came to Design Museum Den Bosch for a festive afternoon. In collaboration with Design Museum Den Bosch and Het Noordbrabants Museum, we played It takes a Child to raise a Village / FREE with the children. With the characteristic spherical climbing frames, the large black cloth, four red rags and eight green ropes, we created the playing field for It takes a Child to raise a Village / FREE. We brought the magic of the playground indoors, creating heart-warming encounters between children and professional actors, freerunners and musicians.
Essential to ‘Neighbourhood to the Museum’ is the question: how can the museum continue to engage local residents and fellow citizens? A mission that touches on the essence of Corpo Máquina Society’s participation projects. Connecting the neighbourhood and the city centre. We want to be the answer to the questions: what is needed to enable children (and young people and adults) who are distanced from art and culture to discover art and self-expression in a positive and stimulating way? How do we make room for that self-expression at the heart of our cultural sector? It takes a Child to raise a Village (/FREE) is one of our answers to that question.
